DuPont turns up the heat at A+A 2015: live burn tests on the DuPont™ Thermo-Man® and innovative garments providing protection against chemicals, heat and flame
DuPont Personal Protection's presence at this year's A+A from 27 to 30 October in Düsseldorf (Hall 5, Stand A40) will be under the slogan ‘Turning up the heat!‘. The spotlight will be on the new DuPont™ Tychem® 6000 FR ThermoPro garment, which combines tried and trusted DuPont™ Tychem® and DuPont™ Nomex® material technologies in a single-layer solution and the novel Nomex® MHP fabric for heat and flame protective garments for industrial workers. DuPont will also be providing in-depth information about current and future developments in chemical protective garments of the DuPont™ Tyvek®, DuPont™ Tychem® and DuPont™ ProShield® brands and about heat and flame protective garments made with DuPont™ Nomex® and cut protective gloves and clothing made with DuPont™ Kevlar®. Another highlight will be DuPont™ Thermo-Man® who will be exhibited in the outdoor area in front of Hall 5 (Stand 5-10) and used to demonstrate the performance of various protective garments in regular live burn tests. More information and a schedule for these demonstrations can be found on the web at A+A 2015.
New protective garment combines chemical protection with heat and flame protection in a single layer.
The Tychem® 6000 FR ThermoPro garment is a new addition to the chemical protection range. It consists of a novel material pairing which combines the tried and trusted chemical barrier of Tychem® with the flame resistance of Nomex® fibre in a single layer. Tychem® 6000 FR ThermoPro thus provides 360° protection against chemicals, flash fire and electric arc. Typical applications are in the oil and gas industry, the chemicals industry, the fire fighting and emergency response services and fields in which personnel may be exposed to combined chemical and flame hazards.
DuPont will also be presenting its Tyvek® 800 J and Tychem® 4000 S chemical protection garments which were exhibited at the last A+A and are now commercially available. They are based on Tyvek® material technology and combine protection against pressurised jets of liquid (Type 3) with high levels of comfort and good freedom of movement. Exhibition visitors can take their courage into their hands and be convinced of the advantages of the Tyvek® 800 J garment by experiencing a water spray test in a splash cabin on the stand.
And last but not least, DuPont will be providing updates about trends and new developments in chemical protective clothing, such as high visibility and functional integration.
Innovative solutions made with Nomex® and Kevlar® for industrial applications and for fire fighters.
At A+A, DuPont will present its latest innovations of Nomex® fabrics (Nomex® MHP and Nomex® 3DP), its cut protective gloves and clothing made with Kevlar® and showcase innovative developments from its Nomex® Partners in the field of multi-hazard protection for industrial applications, as well as heat & flame protective apparel for fire fighters.
The new Nomex® MHP (MHP = Multi-Hazard Protection) was designed in response to growing market needs for multi-hazard protection providing mid-performance protection and performance coupled with high wearer comfort. It is ideally suited for applications where users can face multiple hazards such as flash fire, occasional welding/small molten metal splash, arc flash or static build-up. Nomex® MHP was developed as an alternative to modacrylic and FR-treated cotton blends. It offers low shrinkage, good abrasion resistance and tensile strength, ensuring that it outperforms FR treated cotton blends and Modacrylic blends when it comes to wearlife cost.
The DuPont™ Nomex® Partner Program is a network of carefully selected spinners, weavers, knitters and garment manufacturers dedicated to high quality standards and committed to the use of genuine Nomex®. In return, these partners get to benefit from the technical expertise of DuPont and have access to new developments and to the most advanced in-house testing facilities.
Thermo-Man® puts protective clothing through its paces
Thermo-Man® will be making a guest appearance at A+A in the outdoor area in front of Hall 5. This life-sized mannequin will be dressed in protective garments and fully exposed to the flames from 12 propane gas burners. The 122 heat sensors distributed over the entire mannequin provide measurements which are evaluated by software, allowing conclusions to be drawn as to the position and severity of potential burns. These regular live burn tests will give interested visitors a picture of the performance of the new Tychem® 6000 FR ThermoPro garment and selected protective clothing made with Nomex® MHP.
